Everything about your boat in one place
Specs, manuals, equipment, receipts, service history and reminders — collected by you, owned by you, not locked inside someone else's hardware.

Digital service book, history, reminders, boat data — for a smoother boat experience.
Why boat.life
A well-kept boat is a well-documented boat. Log every service, repair, trip and upgrade as you go — you'll predict issues, catch small things before they become big ones, and avoid problems on the water. And the next owner inherits a boat with its full history intact.
No subscription, no paywall. Keep a full digital service book for every boat you own.
Your logs stay private by default. Share with your family, your mechanic, or a buyer — on your terms.
Export a clean, professionally laid out service history the day you decide to pass the boat on.
A well-documented boat sells better. A full service and refit history makes your boat easier to sell and easier to price. Let the work you've put in speak for itself.

boat.life
Your boat's digital companion
You own your data
boat.life is built around a simple promise: the information about your boat belongs to you — not to a chartplotter brand, not to a marina app, not to us. It stays with you when you change navigation system, when you switch phone, and even when you sell the boat.
Specs, manuals, equipment, receipts, service history and reminders — collected by you, owned by you, not locked inside someone else's hardware.
Every trip you log stays yours. When you sell the boat you keep the logbook — because those are your routes, your weekends, your memories.
When it's time to sell, transfer the boat's record to the new owner with one tap. They get the maintenance history. You keep your trips and notes.
Phone, tablet, web — same data, no lock-in. Export whenever you want. No proprietary file format standing between you and your history.
Other systems rent you access to your own boat. boat.life gives it back.
No ads
This is your information about your boat. We will never place ads in your service book or logbook, and we will never build ads from your data.
Your service book, logbook, photos and notes stay ad-free.
We don't build an ad profile of you or your boat.
You can choose to follow yards, dealers and brands to see what they share — always your call.
Selling the boat
When you sell, the new owner needs the full picture: service history, manuals, equipment, receipts. You want to keep your trips and memories. boat.life makes both happen in a few taps.
Open the boat, go to Settings → Transfer boat. Enter the new owner's email — they need a free boat.life account.
By default everything practical is included: service book, receipts, manuals, events, equipment, photos and Remember notes. Your trip log stays with you.
Choose to keep an archived copy of the boat in your account. You can still read the full history and your logbook — you just can't add new entries.
Print or save PDFs of the logbook, service book and tech specs straight from the transfer wizard before you confirm.
Type the boat's name to confirm. The new owner gets the boat in their account with the full history, and you keep your trips, photos and memories forever.
Your boat changes hands. Your history doesn't.
Features
Engine, rig, dimensions, onboard inventory — your boat's full spec sheet and gear list in one place.
Add what you've done, keep what you plan. Every job, receipt and reminder lives with the boat.
Set seasonal and recurring reminders — winterising, antifouling, safety checks — so nothing slips through.
Keep engine manuals, schematics, invoices and certificates next to the boat they belong to.
Organise per boat with reusable checklists, seasonal plans and passage prep — so every trip starts ready.
Keep your boat record fully private, share with crew, or open a public page for the world to see.
Your boat's own knowledge
Drop in your engine manual, the yard's invoices, service receipts, schematics and the forum post that saved your weekend. boat.life turns it into a searchable record for your specific boat — not generic advice from the internet.
Manuals, schematics, invoices, service reports and notes — uploaded once, organised around your boat.
“When did I change the oil filter last?” gets answered from your invoices and logs, with the source one click away.
Every maintenance action lives next to the document that proves it — chronological, searchable, never lost in an inbox.
Sell her or hand over to new crew and the full history goes too. New owners step aboard knowing exactly what was done, when, and why.
Same record on phone, tablet and desktop — so the work and the answers travel with you.
Your documents are yours. We never sell them and never use them to train public AI models.
Last on 14 June 2024. The oil filter was replaced during a service at Skärgårdsvarvet (Volvo Penta D2-40).
Answers come from your own manuals, invoices and notes — every claim links back to the source.
Logbook
Press start when you cast off. boat.life records the track, the speed and the events along the way — so you can review the passage, share it with friends, and keep a real cruising history.
Your route drawn on the chart in real time, with distance, duration and waypoints captured automatically.
Live and historical speed — see max, average and the colour-coded speed line along the whole track.
Log sail changes, reefing, refuelling, wildlife and harbour entries — with photos and notes.
One-tap emergency with your live position, plus geofence and arrival alerts for crew on shore.

Scrub through the passage afterwards — see the route, speed and events animate from cast-off to docking.

Send a private link to family so they can follow along — they see the boat move, nothing more.

Our story
We built boat.life because we needed it ourselves. We've spent years on the water, and like every boat owner we know the feeling — the beautiful sails, the perfect sunsets, and then that moment when something makes a sound you don't recognise.
We wanted a single place for our boats, our families, the places we visit and the trips we take. Maintenance logs, things to bring back and forth, quick notes so nothing gets forgotten. And we wanted to remember it all — not just the specs, but the stories, the people, the moments that make a boat a life.
The community part grew naturally. Once friends came in, we wanted to find others nearby, people in the same harbour, people with the same boat model, someone who had already solved that weird engine problem. Boating is very much about helping each other, and we try to bring that together here.
What started as a personal tool has become a home for your boating life. Your boats and your places at the core — your family, your friends, the harbours and the neighbours who help each other out on the water. A place to remember, to connect, to belong. Always there when you need them.

From boat owners
“I spend a lot of time and money on my boat to keep it in order. And it gets used so few days a year, so it really has to work when I'm out there. boat.life helps me keep track of what needs doing so I don't run into problems.”
“I love that I can keep track of all the maintenance. For me it matters most when I sell the boat, because I know I will at some point, and having a proper service book is going to help me get the most value out of it.”
“There are a lot of functions in boat.life and I can't wait to see what comes next. The in-harbour messages, the service book, and the AI (I'm a Pro member) that scans and categorises receipts on its own. And the geo location reminders. I just love it for keeping track of things.”
